Virginia Madsen - A Collector's Website
What it is
A dedicated site documenting Virginia Madsen’s film and television work; including reviews, availability, and collected material.
Why it is
This one’s a bit different.
I originally bought the domain years ago with the idea of building something like this, but never followed through. It lapsed, ended up being used for other things, and eventually became available again and so I bought it back.
I’ve been a fan of Virginia Madsen’s work for years, and what probably started as a teenage crush, gradually turned into a genuine appreciation for how good — and often overlooked — she is as an actress.
Over time I’d built up a collection of her work and related material, and realised there wasn’t really a single place that brought everything together clearly.
So this became a way to organise that and, hopefully make it useful for other people as well.
What makes it interesting
- Covers both well-known and hard-to-find titles
- Includes availability information and where to watch or buy
- Focuses on context and not just listing credits, but how the films fit together
- Built as a structured archive rather than a simple fan site
How I did it
- Built using WordPress with custom structure, layout, and plugins where appropriate
- Additional content created from personal collection and research
- Country-specific data collected using Python with APIs from IMDb and TMDb
- Data organised manually
- Ongoing project, updated as new material is found
